Later reports confirmed that the explosion was triggered by a rocket strike at a local medical facility that also houses a clinic in the neighboring residential building. In the aftermath of the explosion, six people sustained injuries.
As per Al Qahera, the explosion has ties to the ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian organization, Hamas, operating in the Gaza Strip.
Statement from Israel
An Israeli military spokesperson acknowledged the incident and emphasized that it "occurred outside our borders".
At present, it remains unclear which conflicting party is culpable for this incident.
Taba, an admired resort city by international tourists, is located over 217 miles from the Gaza Strip on the Red Sea coast, opposite the Israeli port city of Eilat.
