Carol Bongiovi, the mother of the famous musician Jon Bon Jovi, passed away on Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, at the age of 83.
In a statement to "People" magazine on Tuesday, Bon Jovi confirmed his mother's death.
Our mother was a force to be reckoned with, her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family. She will be greatly missed, said the rock star in a statement.
According to reports by "People," the family will hold a private funeral service at Holmdel Funeral Home.
Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Carol enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1959. She met her future husband, John Bongiovi Sr., during her service. The couple then moved to Sayreville, New Jersey, and married for 63 years.
50 years on Bon Jovi's stage
Jon Bon Jovi has been singing for over 40 years, starting his first band at 13. The band's debut album, Bon Jovi, was released in 1984, and in June of this year, their 16th studio album, Forever, was released, featuring the track "Legendary."
Unfortunately, the band will not be able to be heard live, at least shortly, because their frontman has not yet fully regained his vocal abilities after vocal cord surgery in 2022.
