Rumors about Robbie Williams preparing a movie about his career have circulated online for quite a while. "Better Man" will not be the typical biographical movie we've seen in recent years. Let's recall that cinemas have already featured the stories of Queen, Elvis, and Elton John. All of them were full of great music, star-studded casts, and were truly colorful. They received mixed reviews. Director Michael Gracey ("The Greatest Showman") decided that Robbie will be portrayed as... a monkey in the film.

"Better Man" one of the most interesting productions of early 2025

The musician commented that giving in to the machine of show business requires you to become a robot or a monkey. He, as he argues, chose "a monkey."

"Better Man" is a story about perseverance in the constant pursuit of fulfillment and the challenges that come with being both admired and constantly judged. Robbie's memories are unique, so it seemed natural to present this story from his perspective, portraying him as he sees himself—as a monkey performing on stage, says Michael Gracey, the film's director.

"The monkey was all Michael. He pitched me the idea of having my spirit animal tell this story. I wanted to be a lion but he was like, ‘Erm, no. We see you more as a monkey.’ So yeah, everyone in the film is human except for me. I’m a CGI monkey. But I loved the idea. I’m a performing monkey. It works. I totally get it," adds Robbie Williams.

The production will showcase Williams' beginnings in the entertainment industry, including how he joined the band Take That. Singer's love for music was ingrained by his father. Robbie didn’t have it easy with him, as shown in the early scenes of the trailer. You can see this trailer below.

The film will be in theaters starting December 25, 2024. Is it worth the wait?
