Kim Ju Ae, the daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has been assigned a new official title - "Morning Star of Korea". Experts interpret this as a sign that she could be selected as her father's successor.
Speculation surges over Kim's daughter's succession
After the successful launch of a reconnaissance satellite, the Department of Organization and Guidance of the ruling Korean Workers' Party arranged lectures discussing the importance of the satellite and also mentioned the leader's daughter.
In the lecture, it was suggested that the future of the space energy era would evolve under the rule of a female general - "The Morning Star of Korea". This is the first time that the leader's child has been officially conferred with the title "The Morning Star of Korea", a designation once used for Kim Ir Sen. The news was relayed by a Pyongyang informant for Radio Free Asia.
In recent weeks, Kim Jong Un has increasingly been seen in public with his daughter. On November 19, they jointly observed the launch of a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile. Pictures of this event were published in the state-run "Rodong Sinmun" newspaper.
Further stirring the pot, Kim Jong Un was again spotted with Kim Ju Ae several days later. The pair garnered attention due to the Gucci brand sunglasses that the teenager was wearing, a model numbered GG 3644/S D28 ED. Despite a nationwide ban on promoting foreign brands, these glasses, priced at approximately one thousand zlotys ($250), have caused quite a stir.
Analyst Cheong Seong-Chang from South Korea's private Sejong Institute interprets these events as noteworthy developments. Kim Jong Un's frequent public appearances with his daughter suggest her growing importance in the country. If this trend continues, it may indicate that she is being groomed to be Kim's successor.
