Ryan Reynolds is sure to count 2024 as a successful year. His film "Deadpool & Wolverine" has grossed over a billion dollars in theatres worldwide, his soccer team Wrexham has been promoted to a higher league, and by the end of the year, he was named Producer of the Year by The Hollywood Reporter. During an interview while receiving this award, Reynolds shared some details about his professional plans.

Jackman and Reynolds join forces again

Although he emphasized that "he has some ideas regarding the MCU," "none of them focuses on Deadpool." He revealed more about another project - "Boy Band," a film he's been trying to make for several years. In it, Reynolds would star alongside Jackman, and the duo would play former child stars who reunite as men in their middle age.

Reynolds told the publication he's currently revising and polishing the script: "The first draft was incredible and written by one of my favorite writers, Jesse Andrews [Me and Earl and the Dying Girl]. Now I'm on my lonesome."

And although Reynolds, who plans to also produce the film with director Shawn Levy, doesn't have a set start date for filming yet, he already has a clear idea for the plot of "Boy Band":

"Shawn, Hugh and I are open to creative ways to make this movie at an absolute bargain. These kids achieved incredible fame with no blueprint at all. They experienced levels of fame that would be very difficult for anyone to navigate, let alone an adolescent, when you are farming out your self-worth to an audience of screaming people. It creates a kind of arrested cultural development. They’re forever associated with that period of time in their lives. This would be about people in their 40s and 50s trying to get their lives back. I think there is something beautiful about that," Reynolds stated.

And although Reynolds has never participated in a musical, fortunately, his clawed buddy has already shown off his skills several times. Jackman was a star of "Les Misérables" and "The Greatest Showman," so he'd find himself at the very least... singing in the role of a former boy band star.
