Grease, dirt, and food residues progressively accumulate inside the oven. After a few uses, stains that eventually turn into burns start to form. How do you clean a heavily soiled oven? You only need one item, which you most likely already have in your kitchen. In just an hour, your appliance will gleam with cleanliness.

A simple trick for easy oven cleaning

Ovens should be cleaned regularly, ideally after every use. A quick wipe with a sponge and a bit of dish soap can prevent grease and food residues from accumulating. Unfortunately, this routine is often neglected. After just a few weeks, it seems the oven hasn't been cleaned for years.

How can you clean the oven without heavy scrubbing? The internet is brimming with various cleaning tricks and tips. A homemade technique for effectively cleaning the stove has recently become quite popular. It’s a safe, inexpensive, and completely natural method using lemon, compatible with every type of oven.

A DIY method for cleaning the oven

All you need is a lemon. Rich in citric acid, lemons are excellent at removing dirt, limescale, and grease while polishing surfaces. Cut three lemons in half and squeeze out their juice. Don’t discard the peels — they'll be helpful for cleaning. Place approximately 2 cups of water in an ovenproof dish and add the squeezed lemon juice along with the peels.

Put the dish in an oven preheated to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. “Bake” for an hour, then turn off the stove and slightly open the door to let it cool. Remove the dish and dip a soft microfiber cloth into the lemon water. Lightly squeeze and use it to wipe the inside of the oven. For any stubborn stains, use the lemon peels — they’ll come off quickly without any scrubbing.

Addressing heavily burned ovens

The method mentioned is effective for mild to moderate dirt. A more potent solution is necessary for severe burns. How do you clean a heavily burned stove? For enhanced effectiveness, opt for the reliable combination of baking soda mixed with water and a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide.

Spread the paste on the preheated oven's surface, being cautious to avoid burns. Rub it in well and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, wipe the interior with a clean, damp cloth. Your oven will look as good as new.
