Can anything compare to a plate of warm apple pancakes? Suitable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can enjoy them all year round, no matter the weather. These are our childhood favorites. While there are many ways to prepare them, yeasted pancakes are most commonly favored for their softness and fluffiness. For a unique twist, here's a buttermilk pancake recipe that tastes remarkably like cheesecake.
What to choose: yogurt, curd cheese, or bananas?
Pancakes, essentially fluffy crepes, can be whipped up in no time. Their capacity for variation is immense, with each recipe leading to a subtly different taste. Starting with yogurt pancakes, all you need is to mix yogurt with an egg and a bit of flour. Once fried, the pancakes turn out amazingly soft and filling.
In Krakow, people cherish their cottage cheese pancakes. Like a cheesecake in pancake form, these heavy, curd cheese pancakes are prepared by combining curd cheese with egg yolks. Then, the egg whites are whisked into a stiff froth. Following that, all ingredients are mixed together, finally folding in a small amount of flour to bind everything. Then, spread the mixture onto a pan greased with a bit of oil and fry both sides.
For those who fancy banana bread, banana pancakes are a must-try. The base comprises bananas mashed with an egg and about four tablespoons of flour. Adding some baking soda will render the pancakes incredibly soft and fluffy. If innovative kitchen experiments aren't your thing, stick to the classic apple pancakes recipe detailed below. Tasting much like those our mothers made us, these apple pancakes are sure to bring back some nostalgia.
