We clean window glass fairly often. Unfortunately, we frequently overlook an equally important part: the window frames. This is where most of the dirt, dust, and mold tends to build up. If you want truly clean windows protected against mold, this homemade remedy is your solution. With it, your window frames will look snow-white and shiny.

Homemade elixir for washing window frames

The ingredients needed for the window frame cleaning solution are likely already in your cupboard. You'll need spirit vinegar, dishwashing liquid, and lemon juice (or citric acid).

Mix a cup of water, 1/3 cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of lemon juice or citric acid, and a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in a large bowl. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and transfer them into a spray bottle. Generously spray the frames and let sit for about 10 minutes. Afterward, wipe the frames down with a damp, soft cloth like microfiber.

Effectiveness of homemade products

Both vinegar and lemon juice are excellent at dissolving dirt. They also whiten surfaces and can remove the yellow tint from frames, which may appear from smoking cigarettes inside. This yellowing is often the result of rising tobacco smoke. If you smoke at home or live with a smoker and want to remove yellow stains from the walls, this remedy can be used as well. However, it's effective only on white walls, as vinegar may dissolve colored paint and leave unsightly streaks.
