Discover a new way to hang Christmas lights

Christmas brings an enchanting transformation to homes, turning them into fairytale winter wonderlands. The Christmas tree, adorned with twinkling lights, is amongst the most cherished elements of Christmastime decor—it truly adds a magical charm to any interior.

However, lights can pose certain challenges as Christmas decorations. Many people find it taxing to untangle them, and others struggle with hanging them properly.

Shannen Doherty advises you to start by first plugging in the lights. The next step involves the technique of hanging.

Hang the lights from top to bottom

While most people prefer to adorn their trees with lights wrapped horizontally, Shannen suggests a vertical approach, hanging the lights from top to bottom. Why? It lends an elegance to the tree and harmonizes the overall effect. Furthermore, lights arranged along the branches – from the base to the top – can optically enhance the appearance of the tree.

To better control light placement and prevent a chaotic look, start hanging the lights from the top of the tree, creating distinctive vertical waves. Strive to distribute the lights evenly along the branches to create symmetry.

This method is also a practical solution for those who don't have an abundance of lights. It allows them to concentrate the lights on the front of the tree.
