He learned that someone was tampering with his utility room at night. Items used the previous night would often be misplaced or even arranged neatly. The puzzled retiree chose to install a night vision camera on his workbench.
He was taken aback by the sight of a tiny mouse collecting assorted items such as clothespins, corks, caps, and screws with its paws and diligently disposing them into a container.
The 75-year-old shared his astonishing discoveries with the media. As highlighted by the BBC, this unique observation was preceded by a recognition of the mouse's cleaning habit.
'Nightly shed cleaner' identity unveiled via surveillance footage
"I initially noticed bird food that I left out winding up in old shoes stored in the shed," he said. But the unexpectedly missing trinkets turning up in various containers was what took him by surprise.
The retiree amended his routine after noticing his diminutive helper on the camera recordings. "I no longer worry about tidying up. I purposely leave items strewn around, only to discover them organized neatly in the morning. I believe the mouse genuinely enjoys cleaning," commented Rodney Holbrook.
