How to recreate the iconic pickle soup

I increasingly realize that the internet is a true treasure trove of knowledge. You can find numerous sources of inspiration and useful tips. As cooking is my greatest passion, I continually search for interesting information to use in my culinary adventures.

While browsing online, I came across a brilliant instructional video on TikTok. The author of the recording, gotujzdiego, expertly demonstrated how to prepare a delicious pickle soup, just like our grandmas did. A tried-and-tested recipe awaits you. An important factor to note is the key to success lies in adding homemade broth to the soup. With this addition, your recipe is sure to taste divine right from the start. The soup ends up being much more flavorful and distinct. This combination is genuinely unforgettable!

Grandma's pickle soup according to Diego Gorrion's recipe

Ingredients:

  • Pickles
  • Broth
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Allspice
  • Bay leaf
  • Carrot
  • Parsley
  • Potatoes
  • Butter
  • Cream
  • Fresh dill
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Procedure:

  1. Start the recipe by melting butter in a heated pot.
  2. Peel and finely chop onions and garlic, then add them to the pot.
  3. Don't forget to add bay leaves and allspice.
  4. After a few minutes of sautéing, add peeled and finely cubed: carrot, parsley, and potatoes.
  5. Add the broth and cook until the vegetables soften. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, grate the pickles and sauté them in melted butter for approximately 5 minutes until they caramelize. Then, add the pickles to the boiling soup.
  7. Finally, temper the soup with cream. For this step, gradually add a bit of broth from the pot to a bowl with cream and stir well. Slowly add this mixture into the pot.
  8. Garnish the soup with fresh dill, just like our grandmothers did. Lastly, season the soup with salt and pepper according to your taste. Bon appétit!
