News media worldwide are echoing the shocking allegations that Cassandra Ventura, also known as "Cassie", accuses her former partner Sean Combs, performing under the monikers "Puff Daddy," "P. Diddy," or "Diddy," of rape and domestic violence.
Sean John Combs is no stranger to high-profile relationships, notably dated Jennifer Lopez at one point. In 2005, Combs began dating Cassie. Back then, the 19-year-old singer joined Puff Daddy's label with the initial promise of a recording contract. However, their once romantic relationship turned into something of a nightmare. It led Cassie, after enduring years of abuse, to break her silence.
Puff Daddy accused of rape: Former partner speaks out
As reported by international media, Cassandra Ventura has filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing him of domestic violence, coercing her into drug use, and controlling every aspect of her life, including manipulating her into sexual encounters with strangers.
"After years of silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and advocate for myself and for other women who have suffered aggression and violence in their relationships," Cassie wrote in her statement.
According to Ventura, Combs allegedly attacked and raped her at her home in 2018, shortly before their official split. Cassie also accuses her ex-partner of orchestrating a car bomb attempt on her subsequent partner, Kid Cudi.
Accused rapper denies allegations
Ben Brafman, lawyer for Sean Combs, asserts that the rapper denies all "offensive and outrageous allegations," hinting that Ventura's accusations may be an attempt at extortion. Brafman emphasized that his client has been the one facing blackmail threats from his ex-partner in recent months.
"Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and baseless allegations. Over the past six months, Ms. Ventura has repeatedly demanded $30 million from him, threatening to write a salacious tell-all book about their relationship, which could tarnish his image. Mr. Combs categorically rejects such blackmail attempts," stated the rapper's lawyer, Ben Brafman.
Conversely, according to Ventura's legal counsel, Combs offered his former partner a hefty sum in the eight-figure range to ensure her silence and prevent a potentially damaging lawsuit. Media reports indicate that both parties were in talks prior to the filing of the lawsuit, but the victim allegedly rejected the settlement offer.
