In recent seasons, he has fought more with ongoing injuries than with competitors on the court, which has prevented him from returning to the highest level of play.
Rafael Nadal announced his retirement at the age of 38. He communicated his decision to fans in a video.
Away from the court, Rafael Nadal spends time in a luxurious villa in Mallorca, which he purchased in 2013 for about 3.6 million dollars. The residence is located in the picturesque Porto Cristo with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.
The house includes, among other things, a gym, which allows him to stay fit, and spacious windows with views of idyllic coves.
Nadal has ended his career. He leads a luxurious life
For traveling around the world, Nadal uses his private jet—a Cessna Citation CJ2+ valued at 6 million dollars, which can accommodate eight passengers and whose annual maintenance costs are about 260,000 dollars.
This jet, as Nadal admits, provides him comfort and helps him avoid the risk of getting stuck at airports, which has happened to him before. Grateful for Roger Federer's help in the past when Federer took him on his private plane, Nadal now willingly offers rides to his fellow players. Viktor Troicki posted a photo on Twitter, thanking Nadal for a ride to London.
Nadal is also the owner of an impressive catamaran. In 2019, he sold his Italian MCY 76 yacht for 2.4 million dollars and acquired an 80 Sunreef Power catamaran for 5.4 million dollars.
The luxurious vessel is designed for long voyages and full comfort. On board, there is, among other things, a garage for a jet ski, a jacuzzi, a bar, and a heated swimming pool. The spacious living area on the main deck offers panoramic views of the sea.
