Rabbit meat: Why is it worth eating?

There are several significant benefits to consuming rabbit meat. First and foremost, it is noteworthy for its substantial amount of easily digestible protein. This is no trivial matter—100 grams (3.5 ounces) of rabbit meat contains as much as 27 grams (1 ounce) of protein. This means rabbit meat has a fantastic impact, among other things, on muscle condition. And this is just the beginning of its remarkable benefits.

The second significant benefit is that rabbit meat doesn't contain much fat. This is important information for those watching their figure. With 5 grams (0.2 ounces) of fat per 100 grams (3.5 ounces), it is exceptional compared to other types of meat. Moreover, consuming rabbit meat does not cause concerns about indigestion. It's no wonder this meat is recommended for children and people suffering from digestive system ailments.

The broth prepared with rabbit meat can also be described as a true vitamin bomb. It contains high levels of vitamins A, K, and B12 and a range of important minerals such as magnesium, selenium, and iron.

Rabbit broth – recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 rabbit broth portions,
  • 2 parsnips,
  • a piece of celery root,
  • 2 carrots,
  • 1 onion,
  • 3 bay leaves,
  • 3 allspice berries,
  • salt,
  • pepper,
  • parsley.

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rabbit meat and place it in a large pot.
  2. Cover with cold water.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and patiently skim off the scum for the next hour.
  4. After this time, add the allspice, bay leaves, peeled root vegetables, and charred onion.
  5. Cook for another 90 minutes.
  6. Toward the end of cooking, add the parsley and season the broth to taste. Enjoy!
