Puff pastry is a staple I often reach for, not just for preparing sweet treats. This clever invention, dating back to the 17th century, allows for the creation of exciting snacks in both sweet and savory flavors. Please don't ask me to choose between the two; it's a challenge I couldn't meet.

Once, I decided I loved puff pastry so much that I should start making it home. If you want to do the same, click here for a tried-and-true recipe. If not, don't worry—I understand. After all, it's about being quick. So, to the point: an express snack made with puff pastry. How to prepare it? It's straightforward. Besides the main ingredient, you only need cheese and one egg. Tasty rolls will be ready in no time. It takes just 15-20 minutes!

  1. Roll out the dough to an optimal thickness of about 1/5 inch.
  2. Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk it. Use a brush to spread the egg mixture over the surface of the puff pastry.
  3. Grate the cheese and spread it over the surface of the dough, leaving an empty strip at the top to seal everything.
  4. Roll up the dough. If you've ever made homemade sushi, this will be a breeze.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into pieces and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them once more with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 390°F. Done!
