While you can spend time in the kitchen creating complex appetizers and fancy snacks, sometimes it's worth opting for simplicity, saving both time and energy. Especially when that simplicity tastes as delicious as these bites. You only need a few ingredients to make them; everyone who tries them will be satisfied with the result.

Simple pizza snacks

The base for these savory pastries is pizza dough. To speed up preparation, you can use store-bought dough. However, if you have more time, there's nothing stopping you from making it yourself.

Besides the dough and tomato sauce, pizza-like toppings are a must. We suggest using salami, olives, bell pepper, and, of course, mozzarella. Interestingly, you can even make this cheese at home with just two ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1.1 lbs of pizza dough
  • ¼ cup of olive oil
  • 4.2 oz of mozzarella cheese
  • ⅓ red bell pepper
  • 22 small slices of salami
  • 5.6 oz of tomato sauce

Instructions

Step 1. Roll out the pizza dough and use a glass to cut circles from it, much like you would with pierogis.

Step 2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Drizzle spots of olive oil on it. Place pieces of cheese, sliced olives, and bell pepper on the circles, then cover with a slice of salami.

Step 3. Spread tomato sauce over the salami. Cover everything with one of the previously cut dough circles. Drizzle with olive oil and bake in an oven preheated to 392 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.

Step 4. Transfer the prepared snacks to a plate. You can further decorate them with basil leaves and serve them with garlic sauce. They taste great both warm and cold. Enjoy!
