A massive poster bearing a chilling likeness of Vladimir Putin was destroyed by the wind. The poster had been hung on the face of the Museum of the History of Medicine in Riga following Russia's attack on Ukraine.
Kaspars Vanags, the museum's director, reported that within one day of the announcement to restore the poster, the residents of Latvia contributed over 6,600 dollars towards its replacement.
According to the LSM service, this illustration first appeared in March 2022 on the cover of "Ir" magazine, with the caption, "As you make your bed, so you must lie in it."
Subsequently, a poster with a similar illustration was positioned on a building opposite to the Russian embassy in Riga. Responding to this, the Russians directed a protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then minister, now President Edgars Rinkevics, affirmed that the Latvian state does not restrict the artists' freedom of expression.
