Putin's missile attack on Kyiv raises questions on peace talks
About "another signal from Putin" regarding how "serious he is about ending his war against Ukraine" was written on Wednesday evening on platform X by a correspondent of the Financial Times. "Air raid sirens wailing across Kyiv right now," the journalist summarized.
"Another signal from Putin of just how serious he is about ending his war against Ukraine: air raid sirens wailing across Kyiv right now. Air force warns of Russian ballistic missile threat. It comes after this morning's deadly attack," wrote Financial Times correspondent Christopher Miller on platform X.
Following Wednesday's deadly attack, it was noted that Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported at least one person was killed and one was injured as a result of a massive Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Explosions were heard early Wednesday morning, leading to fires in four districts.
The Russian attack lasted half an hour, with air raid sirens starting at 4:26 AM local time (10:26 PM Eastern Time).
Similarly, the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, Andriy Yermak, commented on the situation, assessing these strikes show how the Russian authorities approach plans to end the war.
"Russia carried out a missile attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, and the air defense and missile defense systems responded to ballistic missiles. This is how Putin wants to end the war," he wrote on Telegram.
"Unfortunately, each public statement from the West, speaking of progress on the road to peace, is accompanied by missile attacks from the Russian Federation," stated Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Governmental Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
Trump: I talked to Vladimir Putin
