Putin warns Russian entrepreneurs: Sanctions here to stay
Before his phone conversation with Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin addressed Russian entrepreneurs. He warned them not to expect a complete restoration of trade freedom and capital flow, even if sanctions against Russia are eased.
Many reports from Russian media and authorities are likely untrue. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin stated that 28,595 sanctions have been imposed against Russian companies and individuals.
Putin described sanctions as a long-term, strategic tool of pressure rather than temporary or selective measures. He asserted that, regardless of global circumstances or the international order, Russia’s competitors would continuously seek to hinder its progress and weaken its economic and technological potential. His remarks were reported by Russian media on Tuesday during the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
"The train has left." Putin talks about the return of Western companies
The Russian leader also noted that some Western companies want to return to the Russian market. In this regard, he conveyed that the Russian government has been tasked with developing a procedure to enable foreign enterprises to return with a guarantee of fair business conduct.
However, Putin stated that Western companies that have already been replaced by Russian entrepreneurs have missed their chance to return.
