It's important to note that many reports from Russian media or government officials may be part of their propaganda efforts, contributing to the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
During the Thursday Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs meeting, the Kremlin unveiled plans to shield facilities in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast against air attacks. According to Vladimir Putin, this strategy aims to establish "order" in the region.
"The severe trials faced by the people in these regions since 2014 can sometimes be difficult to grasp. Rest assured, we will restore order," Putin declared.
The discussion pertains to the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts. Russia annexed these areas in September 2022 following illegitimate referendums that were not recognized by the majority of the international community.
Establishing a "protective dome" over Novorossiya
In these annexed territories, Russia has set up puppet governments. Putin refers to the land seized from Ukraine as "Novorossiya," and in these areas, people are coerced into accepting Russian citizenship.
At the start of the year, Putin announced plans for the "revival" of Donbas and "Novorossiya," urging major banks to brave sanctions and engage with these new regions.
As reported by gazeta.ru, Moscow intends to implement a comprehensive defense network across the Zaporizhzhia region. This "protective dome" will be achieved through employing the S-300 missile system, additional advanced air defense systems, and military air defense efforts by the Dnieper River Group Forces.
