Putin proposes missile challenge in Kyiv to showcase 'Oreshnik'
Vladimir Putin proposed conducting a technological experiment: for the West and Ukraine to designate a target in Kyiv, which Russia would then strike with an Oreshnik missile, allowing air defense and anti-missile systems to attempt to intercept it.
Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Putin reiterated his propaganda claim that the "Oreshnik" cannot be shot down. He stated that the range of this missile is up to 3,420 miles.
The Russian leader claims that even the missile defense systems installed in Romania and Poland are not capable of reaching the "Oreshnik" complex.
In his view, if Western experts believe that the "Oreshnik" is merely an improved version of an old Soviet weapon, then they should "to conduct some kind of technological experiment, a high-tech duel of the 21st century."
Putin: "We are ready"
"Let them identify a strike target, say in Kyiv, concentrate all their air defense and missile defense forces there, and we will strike there with the ‘Oreshnik’ and see what happens. We are ready for such an experiment," stated Putin.
On November 21, Russia used the "Oreshnik" missile to attack a military facility in Dnipro. The President of Russia described it as a response to the use of Western long-range missiles, such as ATACMS and Storm Shadow, by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack Russian territory.
