Many of the reports provided by Russian media or government representatives contain elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin congratulated Donald Trump on the occasion of his inauguration. This information was conveyed during an operational meeting with members of the Russian Security Council.
As reported by the TASS agency, Putin stated that "Moscow acknowledges statements by Trump and his team about the desire to resume dialogue with Russia." He also reiterated that "this dialogue was interrupted due to the fault of the outgoing administration of the current US President, Joe Biden."
- We also hear his statement about the necessity to do everything to prevent a third world war. Russia will fight for its interests, for the interests of the Russian people. That is the goal and meaning of the 'special operation' (as Russians refer to the conflict in Ukraine). We congratulate the elected President of the United States on assuming office - Putin said.
How does Trump evaluate Russia's conflict with Ukraine?
Ukrainian political scientist Stanisław Żelichowski believes that Kyiv's relations with the circle of US President-elect Donald Trump are dynamic, but signals coming from Washington suggest that the new administration quite soberly assesses the situation related to Russia's conflict with Ukraine.
- Representatives of our state are talking with the new administration, and there are already positive signals indicating that the team of the next US president assesses the situation around the conflict between Russia and Ukraine more soberly than before – the expert told PAP.
He believes that Ukraine will not be faced with "unrealistic conditions" regarding the end of the conflict, and the United States will not demand that Ukraine comply with the demands of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
