The latest season of "The Crown" focuses on the tragic death of Princess Diana, stirring numerous emotions and controversies. Foreign media reports on Prince Harry's stance pertaining to the latest episodes suggest that his current collaboration with Netflix has not influenced his views.
The first part of the final season of Netflix's popular show, "The Crown," premiered last Thursday. The finale primarily revolves around the final days of Princess Diana's life, her romance with Dodi Fayed, and the 1997 accident. Rumblings of controversy were piqued even before the premiere.
"I can't watch it; the visualization is too much. Many people will take offense to the sixth season. I believe the last series is impactful, and some may find it hard to watch[...] The first seasons were easier to watch as they were set in the past. The final episodes, however, delve into a tragedy still raw for some people," commented Princess Diana's former butler on an ITV program.
Prince Harry unwilling to watch the 6th season of "The Crown"
A month before the 6th season's release, British media reported that Prince William had no intention to view the latest episodes. He disagreed with the media's exploitation of his late mother's image. Following the premiere, foreign portals reached out to those close to Prince Harry. Prince Harry also reportedly mentioned that he would not watch the final installment.
"Due to the sensitive content of the upcoming episodes of 'The Crown,' Prince Harry understandably decided not to watch this season," a source conveyed to Page Six.
Prince William is upset about Princess Diana's portrayal as a ghost in "The Crown". "He's disgusted by it."
Prince Harry has repeatedly voiced his anguish over losing his mother at 12, affecting him profoundly and impacting his mental health. He has signed a multi-million-dollar contract with Netflix, and his collaboration with the company is keenly observed in the context of "The Crown's" 6th season premiere. It seems that the 39-year-old has a different perspective on the issue than his brother.
"Harry bears no resentment towards the creators of the series or Netflix," says a Page Six source.
