Prince Harry settles in Portugal for a new royal chapter

Prince Harry willingly gave up almost all the privileges of being a member of the royal family. After leaving the Windsor estate, he and his wife began searching for a new home. They eventually decided to purchase a house in Portugal.

Prince Harry wants to spend more time in his home country, so he has various lodging options. However, due to a strict decision by King Charles, the doors of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where he used to live, are now closed to him. The monarch's son had to vacate the residence, which he moved into in 2018, right after marrying Meghan Markle.

Archie's and Lilibet's parents didn’t lament their lost property for long. Declaring a "foothold on this side of the Atlantic," they quickly began searching for a new home in Europe that suited their needs. The British portal Daily Mail reports that they have finally achieved this goal.

Prince Harry will live near his close cousin

The decision to purchase real estate in Europe was driven not only by the desire to manage their interests outside the United States. With this investment, Meghan Markle can apply for a so-called golden visa, allowing free travel across the Schengen area. It’s worth noting that the 43-year-old sought British citizenship, but after returning to the United States in 2020, she suspended all related formalities.

The Sussexes acquired a holiday home in Portugal a few days ago. This will allow them to meet more often with Princess Eugenie, one of the few royals who maintains regular contact with Harry. Together with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, she has lived for several years in a luxury apartment in the coastal town of Melides, located more than 75 miles from the country's capital, Lisbon.
