Designated initially to honour George Washington in 1879, Presidents' Day was expanded to celebrate all U.S. Presidents and shifted to the third Monday of February by the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Most banks, the NYSE, NASDAQ, and USPS, will be closed on Presidents' Day, affecting financial and postal services.
