Among the dishes made from ground meat, meatballs are incredibly popular. They appeal to both kids and adult food lovers. When you want to relish them for an extended period, consider a specific recipe that enables long-term storage of meatballs.

What's the recipe for jarred meatballs?

Preparing jarred meatballs is quite straightforward. You simply shape the meatballs from the ground meat and fry them. Once fried, immerse the meatballs in a tomato sauce bursting with a variety of vegetables. The meatballs are then preserved in jars, which finally experience a pasteurization process.

Ingredients needed for jarred meatballs:

  • 1.1 pounds of ground meat,
  • 1 Kaiser roll,
  • 1 onion,
  • 2 cloves of garlic,
  • 1/2 cup of milk,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 bunch of parsley,
  • 1 tablespoon of oil,
  • salt,
  • pepper.

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 2 carrots,
  • 1 parsley root,
  • 1 celery stalk,
  • 1 quart of vegetable broth,
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste,
  • allspice,
  • bay leaves,
  • salt,
  • pepper.

Preparation:

Start by preparing the meatballs. Chop the onion and garlic finely, then sauté them in oil until they turn a light golden color. Soak the roll in milk, then squeeze it out before adding it to the ground meat. Next, add the sautéed vegetables, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper to the mixture, and mix thoroughly until uniformly mixed.

Shape the meat mixture into small balls, roll them in flour, and fry in hot oil. Once this is done, start on the sauce. Grate the carrots, parsley, and celery. Sauté these vegetables in the same pan used for the meatballs.

The taste secret: Meatball sauce with a twist

In a saucepan, heat the broth and add the grated vegetables, bay leaves, allspice, salt, and pepper. Reserve some broth to mix with the tomato paste and pour this into the pot. Once the vegetables soften, add the previously fried meatballs to the sauce, allowing them to cook together for a while.

Can it last? How to store jarred meatballs

Transfer the prepared meatballs into clean, sterilized jars. Top them with the sauce and seal them tightly. Pasteurize each jar for 15 minutes, then carefully remove the jars and let them cool down. Store in a cool place, ready for reheating whenever you desire.
