Water, flowing pollutants, and food waste in the case of a kitchen sink can cause a foul smell to start rising from the drain. Are you losing patience, and scrubbing the entire sink doesn't help much? Fortunately, there's a home remedy for this.

It is safe for the environment and allows you to enjoy a clean and fresh scent in the kitchen.

A natural way to get rid of unpleasant smell

To get rid of a bad odor, you don't need expensive chemicals or specialized equipment.

Everything you need is in your kitchen. You will need two ingredients. A lemon and table salt.

To make a mixture to combat foul odor, all you need to do is squeeze the juice of a lemon (you can also use other citrus fruits like lime or orange), and then add two tablespoons of table salt. Then everything should be thoroughly mixed until the salt is dissolved in the lemon juice.

Slowly pour the prepared mixture into the drain, and rub the rest on the sink using a sponge, and leave it for 15 minutes.

Salt and lemon

Thanks to the content of citric acid, a lemon not only brilliantly neutralizes unpleasant odors, but also gives your kitchen a fresh, citrusy aroma.

Table salt acts as a gentle cleaning agent. It gently cleans the drain, removing impurities and food residues, which can cause unpleasant odors.

To maintain freshness in your kitchen, use this method regularly. You can repeat this process once a week or as needed.

Remember, this mixture will effectively combat unpleasant smells, but it is not strong enough to deal with food debris stuck in the pipes. To unclog the drain, use chemical agents or a mix of baking soda and vinegar: Pour a tablespoon into the sink instead of baking soda. The drain will unclog in an instant.
