Postal van in Ohio wins a race against Ford Mustang

A postal van daringly challenged a Ford Mustang for its spot in line, a decision its driver likely regretted not long after. Winning the impromptu race might have brought a moment of pride, but forgetting to slow down afterward was a mistake promptly pointed out by the police.

It's not every day that you see a delivery van racing a Mustang, especially when that van is from the postal service, and there's a police car watching the whole event unfold right behind them. This adds a peculiar twist to the frequent jokes about Ohio in the USA.

A police camera captured the incident, which WRAL station later shared. The details from the officer who intervened give insight into the entire episode.

A Ford Mustang and a courier van were positioned side by side at the traffic signal. The van's driver mentioned she was unfamiliar with the Mustang's driver but chose to match his brisk start when the light turned green.

The sight of the delivery van speeding caught the officer's attention immediately. The Mustang's driver, noticing the police presence, decelerated to stay within the speed limit. Contrarily, the van's driver pushed the accelerator, eventually hitting speeds up to 105 miles per hour.

When the police stopped the van, it was confirmed that the driver was indeed on duty for USPS, working out of the Fremont, Ohio, branch. That day was far from her most triumphant day at work.

The officer, showing considerable leniency, fined the 28-year-old driver only $50 for the traffic violation while giving her a verbal warning against street racing.
