Porsche recalls 1,851 cars over faulty wheel nuts risk
Porsche has announced a service campaign due to damage to the central wheel nut and the possibility of the wheel coming off while driving. It turns out that a certain batch of nuts is defective, and there were cases of damage last summer.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an American agency, claims that the problem concerns 1,851 vehicles. Among them are the models 911, 718 Spyder RS, and 718 Cayman GT4 RS—all from the year 2024. This issue pertains to cars where the wheel is fastened with a single large nut, similar to those used in racing cars.
Currently, the campaign only affects vehicles sold in the U.S. market. However, it is worth checking if it affects your car if it was recently imported from the United States.
Porsche has reported incidental nut cracking in September and October of this year. The company is investigating the matter. It also advises owners of cars with this type of fastening system not to use their vehicles until the situation is clarified.
