The former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, now leading the opposition party European Solidarity, disclosed in a statement that he was disallowed exit from the country by border services. The politician voiced his frustration, alleging that this prohibition violates the law and implicates his political rival's office, specifically President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the sitting president.
Absurd theater at the border
Petro Poroshenko, former Ukrainian president and presently the head of the opposition party European Solidarity, shared his bewilderment in a Friday post on platform X, which was previously known as Twitter. He wrote, "The absurd theater enacted at the border. Despite having a delegation signed off by the Chairman of the Supreme Council (parliament), I was stopped at the border. It's improbable to think that the border guards acted on their initiative. It's evident who nullified the document, endorsed by the parliament's chairman".
In a video recording shared on the same platform, the ex-president, now a parliamentarian, explicitly accused Zelenskiy's office of manipulating the decision to bar him from country exit.
Poroshenko's press service confirmed the news of his unsuccessful voyage. "It's factual. He was not permitted exit," our source reported. He further shared that the incident occurred at the Ukrainian border checkpoint in Krakovets, leading to Korczowa in Poland.
According to the laws of martial law in Ukraine, foreign departures, including those of parliamentarians, rely solely on a business delegation.
Poroshenko's plans thwarted
Poroshenko divulged his plans to visit Poland, where he intended to negotiate an end to carrier protests at the border with Ukraine. His subsequent destination was to be the United States, where he intended to confer about financing military aid concerning the war with Russia. "My scheduled meeting with the newly appointed Speaker of the American House of Representatives, Johnson, was canceled," he emphasized.
The ex-president voiced his anger over the incident at the border, terming it as "anti-Ukrainian sabotage". He declared that this hampers his team's diplomatic efforts and, even worse, it weakens Ukraine's defense capabilities.
