In his conversation with the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica," Petro Poroshenko reiterated his stance on the territories occupied by Russia. He stressed that Ukraine cannot give them up and that Vladimir Putin must start real negotiations.
Poroshenko noted that Kyiv's conditions should align with the Minsk agreements of 2014 and 2015. These agreements include ensuring national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maintaining Ukraine's defense capabilities. Additionally, the former president highlighted the importance of sustaining sanctions against Russia, asserting that they should not be lifted until the agreements are fully implemented.
A clear call to Putin is needed from Ukraine, the European Union, and the USA: a 30-day truce, begin negotiations, and determine a path to end the war, said Poroshenko, as quoted by the Polish Press Agency.
He added that if this does not happen, a "Plan B" should be initiated, which includes "unlimited military assistance."
