Cardinal Robert Prevost, after assuming the role of Pope Leo XIV, attempted to call his older brother John. At that time, an Associated Press journalist was at John's house and captured their conversation.

Pope Leo XIV and the surprising conversation with his brother: "Why aren't you picking up the phone?"

During the conversation, John Prevost heard a tablet ringing. He quickly realized it might be his brother, the newly elected pope. It turned out he already had a few missed calls, according to the "New York Post".

"Well, why don’t you answer your phone?" asked Leo XIV. John replied that he was on the air speaking with a journalist. "This is the first time I’m hearing that this thing rang. And we are being filmed and recorded," he added.

The conversation lasted a few minutes, during which the brothers discussed current events and John's plans to travel to Rome.

Daily conversations and games together

John Prevost revealed that he regularly talks to his brother via FaceTime, and they play Wordle together. The AP journalist described the situation as one of the most surreal conversations he had ever experienced.

"It was a human moment from one of the most divine figures in the world," added the reporter.
