Pope Francis urges prayer for peace despite battling bronchitis
During the general audience at the Vatican, Pope Francis called on the faithful to pray and do penance for peace. The Holy Father appeared at the audience, although he could not personally read the catechesis due to bronchitis.
Pope Francis, despite health issues related to bronchitis, did not forgo participating in the general audience at the Vatican. Instead of reading the catechesis himself, he entrusted this task to his collaborator. "Me, with my bronchitis, I cannot (read) still," said the Pope. He expressed hope that he would soon be able to resume his duties fully.
During the audience, Pope Francis addressed the faithful with a call for prayer and penance for peace. He mentioned many countries where armed conflicts are ongoing, emphasizing that "war is always a defeat." The Pope noted that people were not created to kill, but to build and grow nations.
Let us not forget the martyred Ukraine. Let us not forget Myanmar, South Sudan, North Kivu, and so many countries that are at war, urged Francis, quoted by the Vatican News.
Pope Francis, despite health problems, continues his efforts for world peace, calling on the faithful to pray and act towards ending armed conflicts. His words, full of care and hope, are directed at all who long for peace and a better future for all humankind.
