Pope Francis is set to join a session on artificial intelligence at the G7 summit in Apulia this June, as announced by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the summit's lead organizer.
Previously, Meloni highlighted artificial intelligence as a key topic under Italy's G7 presidency. In a video statement, she expressed the Italian G7 presidency’s intention to spotlight the Holy See's views on artificial intelligence and to bring this perspective to the attention of other leaders during the G7 summit scheduled for June 13-15 in Apulia. The specifics of Pope Francis's involvement in the session remain unclear.

- It is the first time in history that a pontiff will take part in the workings of a G7, Meloni highlighted.

The G7 agenda will also cover global conflicts

Moreover, the Italian Prime Minister declared that the G7 would reaffirm its support for Ukraine and continue efforts towards a fair and lasting peace.

Additionally, the Prime Minister announced that they would also address the conflict in the Middle East, with a commitment to preventing any escalation and working towards restoring peace, stability, and security across the region.
