Pope Francis shows signs of recovery but remains in hospital
The Vatican announced that Pope Francis had a peaceful night. More optimistic information is emerging regarding his test results.
According to a statement published Thursday morning by the Holy See Press Office, the pope's doctors noted that a chest X-ray showed improvement.
However, the health situation of Pope Francis remains complex, and he needs more time in the hospital.
Pope Francis is spending the 12th anniversary of his election, which falls on Thursday, in the hospital. Prayers for the health of the 88-year-old pope, who is suffering from bilateral pneumonia, will be held at the Vatican, churches in Rome, and many places around the world. It is still unknown how long he will need to remain in the Gemelli Polyclinic.
On Wednesday, the pope remotely followed the ongoing Roman Curia retreat from the Paul VI Hall, then received communion and devoted himself to prayer. He also underwent motor and respiratory physiotherapy.

We thank Pope Francis for this magisterium of fragility, for that still feeble voice of his that has joined the Rosary in St Peter’s Square in recent days—a fragile voice that continues to implore peace and not war, dialogue and not oppression, compassion and not indifference," it was noted on the Vatican News website.
