On Thursday morning, Russia conducted a massive missile attack on Ukraine. Alerts are in effect throughout the country. Missiles hit areas including Dnipro and were also heading towards the Kyiv region.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces stated that in response to the attack, "Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace."
Fighter jets scrambled
"In accordance with existing procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces deployed all available forces and resources at his disposal, scrambled standby fighter pairs, and ground-based air defense and radar detection systems reached the highest state of readiness," the statement read.
It was noted that these steps aim to ensure safety in the areas bordering the threatened regions. In the past, missiles have entered Polish airspace. The most tragic situation occurred in November 2022, when, as a result of a massive Russian attack, probably one of the Ukrainian air defense missiles fell in Przewodowo, killing two men.
"The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain in full readiness for an immediate response," it was emphasized.
