Polish jets respond to Russian strikes near Ukraine border
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces has reported the deployment of Polish and allied aircraft in Polish airspace in response to Russian attacks on western Ukraine.
"Due to the activities of long-range Russian aviation, which is conducting strikes on facilities, including those in western Ukraine, the deployment of Polish and allied aircraft in Polish airspace has commenced," the Operational Command of the Armed Forces stated this morning.
It was mentioned that in accordance with applicable procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all available forces and resources.
Standby fighter pairs have been scrambled, and ground air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness. The measures taken aim to ensure security in areas bordering the threatened regions.
"The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the situation closely, and the subordinate forces and resources remain in full readiness for immediate action," added the communiqué.
Massive attack on Ukraine
Russian forces launched missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv, causing numerous explosions and fires.
The attacks resulted in severe damage across several city districts. In the Svyatoshyn District, fires broke out in six locations, and there may be people trapped under the rubble. In the Shevchenkivskyi District, fires were reported in buildings, and in the Holosiivskyi District, fires occurred in garages and cars.
Among the injured individuals hospitalized by doctors are three children and a pregnant woman, informed Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko shortly after 8 PM Eastern Time.
