"Attention, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace," the Polish Operational Command announced on social media overnight from Thursday to Friday. NATO air activity is connected to the Russian attack on Ukraine.

The Russians attacked Ukraine overnight from Thursday to Friday using Tu-95 strategic bombers, cruise missiles, and Shahed drones. An air raid alert was declared across the entire territory of Ukraine.

The Polish Operational Command also reacted to the Russian attack, informing the X service about the Polish and NATO aircraft deployment. "Attention, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace, which may be associated with increased noise levels, especially in the country's southeastern region," the announcement reads.

"Tonight, there has been intense activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, associated with strikes using cruise missiles, Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles, and ballistic missiles on facilities located, among other places, in the western part of Ukraine," explains the Operational Command's report.

"All necessary procedures aimed at ensuring the safety of Polish airspace have been activated, and the Operational Command of the Armed Forces continuously monitors the situation," emphasized the statement.

The Command also reminded that the last major night attack by the Russians took place overnight from May 31 to June 1.

A very busy night

An update appeared in the morning. "We inform you that due to the reduced level of threat from rocket strikes by Russian aviation on areas bordering our territory, the operation of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace has been concluded, and the activated forces and resources have returned to standard operational activities," writes the Operational Command.

"It was a very busy night for the entire air defense system in Poland, as the massive rocket attack by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation covered the entire territory of Ukraine, including regions bordering Poland. The Polish Army continuously monitors the situation in Ukraine and remains in constant readiness to ensure the safety of Polish airspace," it reads.
