The Ukrainian Armed Forces are receiving this ammunition as part of the substantial contract worth 23 billion hryvnias, which is about $555 million. The first shipments have already reached frontline units. This information comes from Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, which is overseeing the purchase.

Demchenko highlighted that the deliveries include a wide array of ammunition needed to support both defensive and offensive operations. "This is equipment that is urgently needed on the front lines to stop the enemy and maintain a balance of power. We're talking about a diverse range of ammunition, not just small arms but also more complex types used in modern combat," he explained.

Payments for the contract were finalized at the end of December 2024, and deliveries are set to continue throughout 2025. Nevertheless, as Demchenko noted, shipments have already begun and are not being postponed until the year's end.

Photos published by Ukrainians show that 6-inch caliber shells, used by howitzers like the 2S19 Msta-S or D-20, have reached the front in Ukraine. These are commonly used systems by both sides of the conflict.

Additionally, the shells produced by the Polish are 4.8-inch caliber ammunition. This is suitable for 2S1 Gvozdika howitzers and BM-21 Grad self-propelled guns. Similar to the 6-inch caliber ammunition, these shells are employed in weapons used by both Russians and Ukrainians.
