Poland speeds up delivery of F‑16 jets to Ukraine in the latest push

"Today, we have a positive decision from the Polish government on certain issues, which will allow Ukraine to receive the F-16 jet faster," wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on social media. The Ukrainian president did not provide any details.

"I am grateful to Prime Minister Tusk for efficiently following up on our previous agreements. I am grateful to Poland for its strong support for Ukraine," he emphasized.

According to previous arrangements, Ukraine will receive the first F-16 fighters this summer. Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and Belgium will deliver over 60 such aircraft to Ukraine.

European political community summit

Prime Minister Donald Tusk held bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday during the European Political Community Summit and also participated in a meeting of the coordination group on Moldova. The summit's agenda also includes a reception with King Charles.

European leaders gathered at Blenheim Palace near Oxford, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, to discuss, among other topics, continued support for Ukraine and common challenges related to security and illegal migration. The event is attended by, among others, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, European Council President Charles Michel, and EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not attend.

During the meeting, Zelensky and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala signed an agreement on cooperation in security and long-term support. Zelensky and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob also signed a security agreement between Ukraine and Slovenia.
