Four people were hospitalized after a twin-engine propeller plane unexpectedly crashed on the highway.
The pilot, who was the plane's sole occupant, was not injured. Miraculously, there were no fatalities.
Plane crash: It looked dangerous, but everyone came out unscathed
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation. The cause of the crash is believed to have been engine failure.
The propeller plane, a Piper PA-31 with only the pilot on board, crashed near a highway overpass in Victoria, about 150 miles southwest of Houston. The aircraft broke into two parts.
A piece of the wreckage came to rest on one of the cars on that section of the road at the time of impact. Three vehicles were damaged. The crash was accidentally caught on video.
Eline Moya, the deputy chief of police in Victoria, reported that three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and one person was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The pilot was also examined.
Moya noted that such occurrences are unusual and expressed relief that everyone involved is safe and receiving appropriate medical care.
