This incident unfolded on Thursday, with the affected plane headed from San Francisco to Osaka. Carrying 249 passengers, it was forced to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after losing a wheel just post-takeoff.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The runway underwent a temporary closure. United Airlines officials were quick to point out that their aircraft are equipped to successfully land even when a wheel is compromised or missing entirely.

According to the footage made public, the dislodged part caused noticeable damage to at least one car and a surrounding fence in the parking lot.

The Federal Aviation Administration has committed to conducting a thorough review of the incident. Representatives from the airline have indicated their intent to work closely with affected parties to address and compensate for the damages incurred within the parking lot.
