Pierce Brosnan needs no introduction; he is a cinema legend and an institution. He has been married twice, has four grandchildren, and has five children. Today, he only poses with three of his sons. His adopted daughter died of ovarian cancer in 2013, and her brother, Christopher, fell into drug addiction and distanced himself from the family. It's a story straight out of a particularly depressing movie.
Pierce Brosnan no longer maintains contact with his adopted son
Shortly after finishing film school, a very young Pierce Brosnan met Cassandra Harris, an Australian actress. He described their first meeting as, "What a beautiful-looking woman.' I never for an instant thought she was someone I'd spend 17 years with. I didn't think of wooing her, or attempting to woo her; I just wanted to enjoy her beauty and who she was."
Pierce and Cassandra got married in 1980. She already had two children from a previous marriage, Charlotte and Christopher. When their biological father died, Pierce adopted the siblings, and they took his last name. Shortly after that, Cassandra fell seriously ill. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died in December 1991. Twelve years later, her daughter Charlotte also died from ovarian cancer.
Christopher's life was shattered after his mother's death. He became troublesome and fell into cocaine and heroin addiction. In 1997, young Brosnan spent three months in jail for drunk driving. Eventually, Pierce decided to end contact.
"Christopher is still very lost. He's got a rough life, but I know where he is. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover," the actor said in an interview with "The Rolling Stone." He added, "He knows how to get out. He doesn’t want to."
The star had previously tried to get Chris out of trouble by pulling him into the world of filmmaking. Chris worked as an assistant director on major productions such as "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough" (two Bond movies), and "The Thomas Crown Affair." The efforts came to nothing.
In 2005, Christopher Brosnan appeared on the celebrity edition of "Love Island." Four years earlier, his father found happiness in the arms of his current wife, Keely Shaye Smith. The last film Christopher worked on was a short film in 2015. To this day, it's unknown what he does. In the picture above, you can see how Christopher looks now. He was snapped by paparazzi in London while shopping at a popular British discount store.
