Pennsylvania. Nurse sentenced to life for fatal insulin injections at care homes
Heather Pressdee made a shocking confession to intentionally injecting excessive doses of insulin into 22 patients at various care facilities around the Pittsburgh area. For her crimes, the former nurse has been sentenced to life imprisonment, convicted of murdering at least three individuals and attempting to murder several others.
According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office, Pressdee pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and 19 counts of attempted murder. Her attorney, Phillip DiLucente, stated that his client accepted the guilty plea to evade the possibility of facing the death penalty.
"Will never cause harm again"
Pressdee has been rendered ineligible for parole, marking an end to her potential to exploit vulnerable individuals. "The defendant abused the trust of her patients and used it to poison those who relied on her care," Attorney General Michelle Henry stated, as reported by CNN. Henry further added, "While this life sentence cannot bring back those who were lost, it guarantees that Heather Pressdee will be unable to harm anyone else."
The investigative findings revealed that Pressdee deliberately gave fatal insulin doses to patients across five care facilities in Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, and Westmoreland counties from 2020 to 2023. Notably, some of the victims had no medical need for insulin, highlighting the malicious intent behind her actions.
