Paul Rudd charms Dublin with a surprise pub visit but forgets to pay for gift shopping
The star of the film "Ant-Man," Paul Rudd, unexpectedly appeared at the Olympia pub in Dublin. In the company of the folk band Hermitage Green and a few regulars, he enjoyed a traditional Irish drink and local music.
The actor, known for his role as Ant-Man, is in the Irish capital for filming a new movie. He was captured on Instagram by local musicians. Hermitage Green shared a video with their 30,000 followers, showcasing their meeting with Rudd.
In the recording, Paul Rudd, dressed in gray sweatpants, a hoodie, and a brown jacket, sips a small glass of poitín—a traditional Irish drink. The actor raises a toast with singer and guitarist Dan Murphy, saying "sláinte" and clinking glasses with the band members. In the next scene, the musicians perform the traditional Scottish farewell song "The Parting Glass," which Rudd listens to attentively in the company of other guests. At the end, the actor smiles and sips his drink.
It turned out that Rudd liked the band so much that he took a shirt with their logo but forgot to pay 15 euros (about $17). Hermitage Green jokingly commented in the post's description: "We finished sound check in the Olympia yesterday and slipped out for a quiet pint of Guinness and a poitín chaser. If anyone sees Paul Rudd walking around Dublin wearing a Hermitage Green tshirt go up and say hello to him, he’s a lovely fella. And Paul, if you’re reading this - you forgot to give us the 15 euro for it."
The Daily Mail reports that Paul Rudd is in Dublin for the filming of the new musical comedy Power Ballad, which also stars Nick Jonas. The film is directed by John Carney, who is known for the musical comedies Once and Sing Street. The plot tells the story of a wedding singer (Rudd) and a true rock star (Jonas), between whom a certain song comes.
