Passenger jet catches fire in South Korea; 176 evacuated safely
On Tuesday, a passenger plane caught fire at the international airport in Busan, South Korea. As a result of the incident, three people were injured, according to reports by Yonhap agency.
The local fire department reported that an Air Busan plane, flying to Hong Kong from Gimhae International Airport in Busan, caught fire. The blaze at the rear of the aircraft was noticed at approximately 11:26 PM local time. Yonhap agency reports that all passengers—a total of 169—along with seven crew members, evacuated via the inflatable slide and left the plane.
176 people evacuated
The fire department stated that the first rescue units arrived on the scene at 11:34 PM local time. "We believe all 176 people have evacuated, but we are searching inside the craft just in case," said the spokesman.
During the evacuation, three people sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire managed to spread to the rest of the plane, engulfing the entire fuselage.
