Paris Hilton urges Congress to overhaul abusive youth facilities
Paris Hilton spoke before the United States Congress as an expert on tightening oversight in youth treatment facilities. The star revealed gruesome details of her stay in a similar facility, which she experienced as a 16-year-old.
As one of many experts, Paris Hilton testified before the United States Congress on Wednesday regarding tightening oversight in youth treatment facilities.
The hotel heiress was placed in a similar facility as a teenager. In 1997, Paris' parents sent her to the Provo Canyon boarding school, where the educators were supposed to help her with emotional issues.
It later turned out that Hilton went through hell there, which she talked about, among other places, in the documentary "This is Paris" and the book "Paris. The Memoir." Now, the star recounted the tragic memories before Congress. The 43-year-old revealed that although the facility was ostensibly supposed to provide her with treatment and support, in reality, the opposite happened.

The staff of the facility were reported to have abused her mentally and physically. According to Paris, there was also sexual abuse. The star emphasized that today, as a mother, she cannot imagine such a situation happening again.
These programs promised healing, growth and support but instead did not allow me to speak, move freely or even look out a window for two years [...] I was force-fed medications and sexually abused by the staff. I was violently restrained and dragged down hallways, stripped naked and thrown into solitary confinement [...] If you are a child in the system, hear my words: I see you. I believe you - testified Paris before Congress.
