Parenting influencer Ruby Franke found guilty of child torture, faces up to 30 years in prison
A few months ago, the news about Ruby Franke and her business partner, Jodi Hilderbrandt, shook the world. The pair were arrested in August 2023 after one of Franke's children managed to escape their prison-like home. This brave boy sought help from neighbours, presenting with bruises seemingly from restrictive duct tape, clear signs of neglect, and physical injuries. Franke and Hilderbrandt subsequently pleaded guilty to torturing the children, which included starvation and water immersion, in December of the same year.

Influencer sentenced: Ruby Franke tortured her own children
Recently, reports from American media confirmed that a Utah court found both women guilty of their crimes with severe penalty determination being deferred to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. Both women were convicted on four criminal counts each, with each charge potentially leading to a minimum of one to a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Theoretically, these convictions could see both women spending up to 60 years in prison — probably tantamount to serving a lifetime. However, Utah's laws restrict maximum imprisonment for persistent crimes to 30 years in prison.
During the verdict's reading, Franke was reportedly on the verge of tears. Speaking before the court, she stated her preparedness to bear whatever punishment meted out to her, while interspersing her address with vaguely contrite remarks about "toxic behavior" and "God's wisdoms". However, subjecting your own children to such torture transcends toxic behavior - it simply depicts a monstrous nature.
I will humbly accept the punishment. I will serve it for as long as I have to. (…) I am determined to unlearn my toxic behavior.. (…) I'm sorry that I twisted the words of God. I distorted his doctrine - she confessed in court.
