Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso denies being expelled from Olympic Village

"I'm not going to let lies affect me either," she wrote.

Luana Alonso competed in the 100-meter butterfly stroke and finished in sixth place, which did not qualify her for the semifinal. This meant she was eliminated from the Olympic Games on the first day. At age 20, she shocked everyone by announcing her retirement from her sports career.

Despite this, she did not decide to leave Paris. She remained in the Olympic Village, where she had fun and explored the city. She visited places like Disneyland and documented everything on social media. Her behavior did not sit well with the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, which ordered her to leave the village due to creating an "inappropriate atmosphere."

Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay. We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes' Village, said Larissa Schaerer, head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee mission.
