Pacific Palisades blaze puts LA's homes at risk
The fight against the fire in Pacific Palisades, a district of Los Angeles known for its celebrity residences, is still ongoing. On Tuesday, the blaze spread to 1,260 acres within a few hours. Tens of thousands of residents have received evacuation orders. According to NBC News, Kamala Harris's residence is also at risk.
The fire in Pacific Palisades continues to burn in the Los Angeles district, with hundreds of firefighters battling the flames. The fire is fueled by strong winds and low humidity. Forecasts indicate that wind gusts may reach speeds of around 55 to almost 75 mph, and up to 100 mph in some parts of Southern California.
A "particularly dangerous situation" warning is in effect this week in many areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, where the fire is raging. This relatively rare warning is issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) only in extreme cases.
Joe Biden spoke about the fire on social media, assuring that he is in constant contact with the services and that "his administration will do everything in its power" to provide support.
"I am being frequently briefed on the wildfires in west Los Angeles. My team and I are in touch with state and local officials, and I have offered any federal assistance that is needed to help suppress the terrible Pacific Palisades fire," he added in a post on platform X.
"We are deeply grateful for the heroic first responders"
As reported by NBC News, the residence of Kamala Harris is also located in the fire evacuation zone. The Vice President of the U.S. is currently in Washington.
"Doug and I are praying for our fellow Californians who have evacuated, and we are thinking of the families whose homes, businesses, and schools remain in harm’s way," Harris said in a statement. "We are deeply grateful for the heroic first responders who are risking their own safety to fight the flames and help keep communities safe," she added.
Kamala Harris's home in Los Angeles is located in the eastern part of the evacuation zone, according to NBC News.
